Compensation: Hourly, Commensurate to Skills and Experience
Hours: Full-time: Monday -Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm
Two weeks paid vacation.

Maas Energy Works (MEW) is looking for a Data Engineer to join our Business Intelligence team and help us design and implement our state-of-the-art cloud-based data architecture. At Maas, data engineers work in Python, Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, SQL Server, and other tools to ingest, manage, and cleanse data for our data warehouse. The ideal candidate will have an attention to detail, a curious mind, and passion to learn.
Our team is currently implementing an enterprise-wide data platform in Microsoft Azure. This platform utilizes Azure SQL Server, Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, and a custom-built Rules Engine that uses Apache Spark and Apache Parquet.
Using innovative problem solving and critical thinking approaches to solve complex problems
Analyzing business requirements and scope of data transformation tasks
Maintaining a high proficiency level with Cloud-based data pipeline architectures and on-prem and cloud-based database system models
Provide technical expertise in the implementation of Microsoft’s Azure platform
Working in a fast pace highly collaborative team atmosphere to contribute to the evolving goals of the department and company
Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor’s Degree in a quantitative field (Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, etc.)
2+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or Software Engineer building scalable database applications
Experience with Microsoft Azure including Azure SQL Server, Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics (AWS experience will qualify for the right candidate)
Proficient in Python, SQL Server, advanced SQL scripting, data profiling, and data governance
Experience in Data Warehousing and BI Projects
Experience working with relational as well as non-relational databases
Experience implementing ETL solutions, developing data pipelines for multisource scenarios and complex warehouses
Knowledge of large data sets and experience with performance tuning and troubleshooting
Knowledge of creating insights leveraging Power BI (desirable but not required)
Ability to work within a team in a diverse/multiple stakeholder environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
A desire to work in a fast paced, self-directed environment
Must be proficient in English
